About me

I work as a health care psychologist in The Hague. I have over 25 year of experience as an individual and relationship therapist, both in my own office and in various collaborations with other psychologists and psychiatrists.

I graduated in Clinical Psychology at the Leiden University, and followed a training in hypnotherapy with Bill O’Hanlon (pupil of Milton H Erickson). During 8 years I studied Essence work at the Diamond Logos Academy with Faisal Muqqadam. I have been trained in EMDR, Brainspotting and Somatic Experiencing, as wel as psychodrama and Internal Family Systems. In my experience however, the quality of the connection with the client is more important than whichever applied technique.

Well, and then there is music:

Music has always been an important source of inspiration and expression to me. From childhood on the capacity to express myself by means of music has been a tremendously healing factor. After the electronic organ in the living room of my parents I came across the guitar and bass guitar, arriving at my present passion for violoncello and piano. I discovered the beneficial effects of studying musical pieces that touch me but seem technically way above reach. The intense concentration and focus needed and emerging from putting my musical capacity on strain generates a sort of Flow in which the learning process is immensely accelerated. This principle weaves like a golden thread through my work as a coach and therapist. To profoundly learn new skills (including emotional and meditative ‘skills’) we need Passion, Frustration and Perseverance. Connect to me if you want to know more about my ideas around this…
